Glasman,
I have a quick question for you about the kick panel builds.
Will the fiberglass resin stick to the foil as it cures?
Thanks,

Re: MP3's degraded SQ???
I've had mixed results with MP3s. For example, last Christmas I received the big Led Zepplin box set and promptly ripped each CD into the MP3 format using a moderate conversion level (to keep the file size down). I could definitely tell the difference between " Good Times, Bad Times " play...

That's probably the case.smgreen20 wrote:I don't know if it's that or people just don't want to sell them.
I wasn't putting them down or anything. In fact, I really like them.
There's a really sweet blue Opti 150 on ebay right now. It looks to be in terrific shape.

Re: Wifeys ride
He wouldn't want to pay the price. The 150 I got from a neighbor of my parents for a steal at $35, the 160 I just got off eBay for $140. I had been looking for a long time for either the 160 or the 100Q. These are the amps responsible for me getting into car audio. Those and a shrouded 2250. I scan...

Re: Wifeys ride
That sucks about your supposedly NIB Bostons. At least the seller is willing to refund. Was it an Ebay purchase? I had one Ebay purchase, an old M50, that didn't work as advertised, but the seller "EvanB" out of Phoenix, AZ was extremely accommodating and refunded me completely. He usually...

Re: Wifeys ride
those LANZARS are definately sexy!!!!! I totally agree. I used to metaphorically drool over those original Opti amps during college in the early 90s when all I could afford were shitty Pyramids amps, Pyle subs, and Radio Shack components. Personally, I always wanted an Opti 50C just because...

Re: General curiosity about the M25's ability...
I have done a complete system of a m25 using passives. It consisted of 4" in the front 6.5" in the rear and 2 dual 4 ohm 12s in the hatch. It did 127dbs. The m25 is a bad ass little amp. It does not make tons of power but will keep on running no matter what you throw at it. That's awesome...

General curiosity about the M25's ability...
Hey everyone. I was thumbing through the old M25 manual and thought it was really interesting that PG included such detailed system designs. Systems 4 and 5 are particularly interesting. Hell, System 4 has 16 speakers including eight subs! Has anyone ever attempted to build this system? With an M25?...

chicago-regal,
Awesome equipment! I would love an first generation EQ232. Should be an awesome installation.

New "Old-School" install in my 1999 Civic Si...(Updated!!!)
Hey everybody. I made some significant progress last weekend on my false floor-style install in my otherwise totally stock Electron Blue Pearl 1999 Civic Si. I am not nearly as skilled as some of the excellent installers on this site, but I have enough tools to do basic wood-working. This system is ...

For sound quality (and a shocking amount of bass!), Michael Jackson's "Best Of" CD is really amazing. Checkout track 2, "The Way You Make Me Feel". Not only is the sound quality very good, but the bass is ridiculous. Also, "Thriller" sounds incredible for an old recordi...

Re: Choosing SQ amps
jmbarnes2, Good morning. Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, only because my PG experience is limited to the, in my opinion, wonderful SQ of my M44 and M25. However, I think it is a testament to the quality of the MS series amps (and PG equipment in general) that people still turn to so-cal...

Damn! That sounds good and it looks like it's really hitting hard. Nice job!
One question though: Is that an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" CD?

Somewhat hypothetical sub/amp setup question...
Hey everybody, When I was really into car audio back in the mid 90s, I seem to remember serious SPL competitors using two separate amps to power one dual voice coil sub; or one amp per voice coil. I haven't been keeping up with car audio for the ten years or so, but is this (still) relatively common...

Re: These are decent, right?
Nutxo, I'm sorry for the confusion. I have used my 5 1/4"s since day I bought them. That's over 12 years of heat, humidity, and Metallica's Shortest Straw abuse in the doors of my Civic. Under those conditions, the surrounds just wore out and the in-line crossovers finally had enough. So, what ...

Re: These are decent, right?
Nutxo, Good afternoon. That's a nice set of 6 1/2" Quarts. I have the exact same series, but I have the 5 1/4" version. I bought them brand new in 1999, installed them in the front doors of my 1999 Si, and they still sound great. I did run into two issues, but I was able to rectify both. F...

Issue with my electrical system...
Gentlemen, I am experiencing an odd issue with my battery and I thought I'd throw it out here on the phorum to see if anyone has some idea of what's going on. Here's the situation: I got in my car this evening, put the key in the ignition, and...nothing. No electrical power at all. Nothing. So, I ca...

Re: Seeking some system design opinions...
My vote is definitely for scenario 1 as well. The AX can very accurately set the crossover frequency because they use fixed chips (or you can build simple resistor networks), so it would be difficult to cause damage. You'll definitely want to set the gains using an oscilloscope, or at the very leas...

Re: Seeking some system design opinions...
I like the first choice. Those tweets would be fine with 50 watts going to them. The only reason I would see for keeping/using the passive xovers is to keep the possibility of DC away from the tweeter. And unless you're going to be driving everything into clipping I see no need for the Quart xovers...

Seeking some system design opinions...
Hey everybody. I'm currently building a false-floor setup for the trunk of my Si and I am trying to decide how to best utilize the components that I'm using. So, I am officially soliciting advice about which direction to go with the design. Here's the signal chain back to the crossover: CD player ou...

That looks too nice to be a Power Acoustik. Same topic: I had a Pyramid PB1000 (via ampguts: http://ampguts.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1549) between 1993 and 1995. It's so funny to compare the pictures of the circuit boards from that amp and the M44 and M25 I own now. I've always wondered how m...

Re: Let's see your stash
Hey everybody. I finally completed my small collection of PG gear and thought I'd share it on the phorum. I had been out of the car audio scene for 10 years or so; I was just maintaining a small system in my 99' Si. Then in summer of 2009, the crummy, two-year-old RF P4004 I was using unceremoniousl...

Re: M Series input voltage question
If you noticed a difference, then my best guess is this... Considering you wanted a line driver for the reason of having your gains all the way DOWN, this clearly shows you are interested in good sound and not a moron who turns all the knobs all the way up. I am willing to bet you actually had your...

Re: M Series input voltage question
Let me make this very clear, adding a line driver will not make your amp run cooler. It also will not make it sound better. If it does either of them, you are either using it wrong, had your system setup wrong prior to using it, or have some other really strange issue with your system. What a line ...
