Re: What transistor is this?!

it is PG equipment.. it is a transistor located just before the Output RCA's on a x-over board on a zx I think what he meant was that it is not STOCK PG equipment, meaning someone messed with the amp at somepoint and replaced that transistor. And from the solder blob, I would think the same thing. ...

Re: RSdC124 Problems After a Car Accident

 Ya, I was just confused and totally out of it yesterday. Ok, now that I am more with it, here it goes... With my zx500, when I play a 50hz test tone with no sub connected to it, it will put out about 31.5v when bridged, and about 15.5v on each channel, which is what I want to test it, about 50...

Re: RSdC124 Problems After a Car Accident

Alrighty, Thanks all for the suggestions so far. I did test the fosgate sub with the HF meter, and it read 2.3, so it was in "spec". Also, the HF meter wasn't the first meter I used to test the sub, it was just the one I had handy when I took the pics. The first time I took a reading from ...

Re: RSdC124 Problems After a Car Accident

The cone moves freely, and it does play, it's just not loud at all. My fostgate puts it to shame, and that is saying something. I also inspected everything that I could see, and it all look intact. The wires hadn't even separated inside the box. I too am baffled on why the resistance would inc...

RSdC124 Problems After a Car Accident

Howdy all, So I finally got around to installing my stereo into my subaru after totalling my other one a few months back, and when I go to hook up the sub, it's not loud AT ALL. So after doing some leg work, I test the ohms on the sub, and it reads 8 ohms! I wired it up for a 2 ohm load. So ...

Re: post a pic of your latest purchase

Ya, that little guy only cost $89.99 from Harbor Freight. I also got the 2 year replacement plan, so on christmas 2012 I will be trading it in for a brand new one :) Can't be the price, especially for a brand new compressor. I broke it in properly and it runs like a champ! Its a great size for me, l...

Re: Need help repairing an XS4600

Well I put the original IRF540 mosfets back and replaced the pnp and npn transistors on that channel (mpsa06 and mpsa56). I've been running the amp for about an hour and all seems fine; the 60hz is gone and the general noise level out of both channels seems lower but that may just be placebo lol......

Re: Need help repairing an XS4600

I can't promise that it will show up bad, but a leaky transistor should show up bad when testing it I would think. So I would remove them and see what you find. The worst that can happen is you get some solder experience :D That's what I did with my tantrum, kept removing stuff till I found the bad ...

Re: Need help repairing an XS4600

You can't really test a transistor properly without removing it or having specialized equipment. This is because the are wired together, and if one is bad, the other will read bad as well, and give off funny readings. The only cheap and actually useful way to test a transistor is to remove it, other...

Re: Need help repairing an XS4600

The XS series is a lot like the tantrum series and I have repaired mine before when I blew a transistor. The board should pretty much be labled, if not, it should be pretty easy to trace the channels and what not on the board. Once you have found the area that is for the channel that is not working,...

Another "difference" is that Firefox does not open links in new tabs from the new phorum. With the old one, any link would open in a new tab....not that I cannot get used to it but not sure if it is something that is changeable. :) That should just be a setting in Firefox... Or I just use...

You are most likely going to have a hard time getting it to work because they are already running some sort of NAT(network address translation), and trying to NAT within a NAT (this is what the "wireless router" does is NAT) you are going to have problems. You need to setup two different n...
