Its just like Arc saying they design their amps, they dont. Its a bounch of BS but atleast we do know who designed them and that they are good amps.
Robert Zeff is the lead EE for Nikola
someone posted this in another thread.
Yes, Nikola is the design house for UBUY, but only for the higher quality amps.
For the entry level stuff, they have their Taiwan Design Team (look here: http://www.ubuy.com.tw/technology)
Seems like Nikola is here in the states.

Re: so ubuy = robbert zeff
honestly - I hope that PG IS using UBUY, take a look at the processors, line drivers, etc... they have some decent looking stuff that would be great to start running... now it they would just make a 4-channel line driver, that would be great!

Re: so ubuy = robbert zeff
Guys,
Couple of comments here.
UBuy is a well know trading/engineering consultant company. In fact, they were the distributor for Phoenix Gold for many, many years in Taiwan. They have a solid reputation, but they were not involved in this project.
Two things I suggest you keep in mind:
1. When AAMP acquired PG part of the deal included key electrical and production 'engineering resources' dating all the back to the M/MS series.
2. PG always has and will continue to use a wide range of engineering resources. The TiDEQ was designed 100% out of house. The Octane 5.1MT same thing. Morel was involved with Ti Elite speakers. Xenon Class D amps were designed 100% out of house. There is plenty more examples.
There are lots of options for amplifiers out there, big, small, etc, etc and everyone is going to have an opinion on them. That's fine.
However, if our engineering team is being questioned, I would like to point out the I Series amplifier. Amplifiers will OEM full data bus integration do not grow on trees, whether those trees grow in China, Korea or USA.

Re: so ubuy = robbert zeff
it looks like a very solid amp, and zeff has a great reputation. but it says specifically on the pg site "SD Amplifiers are the newest creation from the engineering gurus at Phoenix Gold." and that is misleading to me. you could say "designed by the best in the business" or something. and it would sound impressive and accurate.
and for the record, i'm not hating. i'm super exited about those amps!

Re: so ubuy = robbert zeff
my company manufactures in China and a lot of engineering also happens overseas.
sometimes this engineering and/or design comes to us by way of consultants.
while these consultants are working on our projects, in some ways they become employees.
when we market our products we, like most others trying to stay in business, tend to focus on the positives.
this same attitude tends to cross over into the design aspect, at times.
we do not advertise about our defects nor do we tell our customers that our next big thingcame from an
idea that belonged to someone else.
I know it is misleading but hey, we all know that 4,000 watt amp at the local pawn shop for $99 installed
isn't exactly an example of honesty.

Re: so ubuy = robbert zeff
why is this still an issue?
Morgan said straight out that ubuy was not part of this amp... I am willing to take him at his word, doing other than that would be calling him a liar.
