Who needs a bass cube knob?
Who needs a bass cube knob?
I've been looking for a knob with little luck myself. I'm thinking for making one and see that there is a need for them. Just curious who out there would want one if I went into production of repro knobs and what people might want to pay for one to see if it is a cost efficient option. I can make aluminum shrouds for them as well. Look forward to seeing your responses.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
What would the pricing be like? I'm not in the market for one now but I might buy one to use in the future. I don't see them going for more than $100.
A few of these and a few of those.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
Ohh I'm hoping no more than $50. Depends on parts though. Or how custom you want the mount. I want to make a 3 knob mount to include an lpl and 3 blue LEDs. Carbon fiber water transfer to match my octane. That custom might be expensive. I'm hoping a basic one is affordable to help everyone out.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
I figured around 25-35 bucks each, I'll make mine and let a metal shop (weaklink?) do the mounting trim. Aluminum or stainless steel would be sweet.
Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
A phellow member, Jason, made some afew years back. I bought one and worked great. Iirc, $20 or $25 shipped its what I paid.

That's the price range I'm hoping for. I think it's going to come down to how much the etched boards are. And let me know when your ready for a bracket tricky.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
I will be picking up components from Mouser today. So if someone wants me to make them one let me know so I can order enough. Right now am just going to order enought to make two, as I don't want to step on anyone's toes (if someone else is already making them).
I figured I could make the boards with all the components for around 15-20 bucks, then Weaklink can make the mounting hardware. We both would need to know if people want three LED's or a single LED....and I would need to know what color. I have bright blue (very close to PG oem, except mine are very bright....can be dimmed down by controlling the juice going to it) LED's in stock.
I dont think I will be etching my boards, I will just get prototype boards (with holes already pre-drilled) and mount the components on it and build my own traces). I could etch them but that would be more time consuming (printing, etching, cleaning, drilling,inspecting...one error the board is trashed) with the prototype boards you can move traces around, components with no worries.
I won't get my BC until sometime this Friday, so I won't be able to test it until the weekend.....
Quick question...should I get quick connectors for the LED? I don't see why anyone would remove it in the first place? Plus I can mount the LED with wires (so it can be loose and you can mount it on hardware trim with a bit of hot glue or epoxy from the back) or I can mount the LED with its leads onto the board (no epoxy/hot glue needed as the LED's leads will be holding it in place). See what I mean, no need for connectors.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
Since some mentioned the addition of an LPL, I could also purchase a few pots for those puppies and could include them with the BC controllers. Weaklink can make the mounting hardware a bit longer to accommodate the extra knob/controller.

Ooohhhh that would be handy. How about a voltage display too. ( I know pushing my luck)

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
That would also be possible but I would have to use an RMD (those alone are 30-40 bucks). Then you its not compatible with every PG amp.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
I could use a knob. Not in the buying stuff phase right now, so maybe 2nd run down the road a bit? He three led option and built in lpl would be sweet too. I'm with some others, I'd like to see how the prototype turns out. Keep us posted!
Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
An rmd hole wouldn't be that much mure difficult. The mount can be as big as I cut it. We can just call them control stations

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
I'll buy one once you confirm that they work. I would be cool with 1 led, color doesn't matter to me. I'd want it to be as small as possible so I wouldn't want an LPL as well.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
Anyone ever made a double LPL to run two amps at once? (Left side, right side, or similar)
I'd think you could just use a longer double ganged pot... But didn't know if there was some other nifty trick.

Re: Who needs a bass cube knob?
Two knobs side by side with a rubber band wrapped around them works.
Just joking...

Interesting. So if M and XS don't need the floating ground link, but zx do... What about Ti? Specifically a pair of 900.7's? Heh.
